Ana Castañosa is co-president of SWAN.
Ana Castañosa holds a Master’s degree in Audio-visual Communications from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain (2003). She started her career working at the pitching forum DocsBarcelona, which she combined for many years with working as a line producer in several current affairs programs and documentaries for Spanish regional and national broadcasters (TVE, TVC, Cuatro, La Sexta…etc).
In 2012, Ana joined the production company Morena Films where she started working in cinema, developing different production and communication tasks, from the development phase to the promotion of different fiction films that were produced between 2012 and 2015. In the case of documentary films, she actively worked in the impact campaign of „Sons of the Clouds“ (2014, winner of the Goya Award for Best Documentary, distributed by Wildbunch) and in the development and financing of „The Propaganda Game“ (2015, nominated for the GOYA Award for Best Documentary, distributed by Memento Intl.), for which she is an associate producer.
In the beginning of 2015, she moved to Miami, Florida, where she founded her production company 9am Media Lab with producer Rebeca Villar. Together they have produced documentary feature films such as „The Lambirds“ (2016), „The Rise Of The Synths” (2019, it participated at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam among other festivals, just before the pandemic) and „Courtroom 3h“, by Antonio Méndez Esparza, which premiered at San Sebastian Festival in September 2020 and it´s currently in distribution in the US.
Since 2017 Ana lives in Lausanne, where she is currently setting up her own production company with 2 other partners. She is Project Manager of the Impact Day, an event dedicated to the impact campaigns of documentary films at FIFDH in Geneva, the world’s leading film festival on human rights.
