Deborah Neininger is a Commissions member of SWAN.
Born in 1983 in Schaffhausen (CH), she has worked as an assistant director at several Swiss theatres, including at the Schauspielhaus Zurich before completing her studies in Giessen (D) at the renowned Institute for Applied Theater Studies.
As a director and writer for film and theatre, she moves loosely between performance art and popular entertainment. In 2013 she was awarded the Schaffhausen Cultural Promotion Prize and in 2015 the Prize for Cultural Education Basel. 2014/2015 Production and direction of two seasons of the comedy series “Güsel. Die Abfalldetektive”.
As an advertising director, she developed campaigns for Migros, Appenzeller cheese and Switzerland Tourism. 2018-2020 directed the comedy “Traumfrau Mutter” in the Maag-Halle in Zurich, which tours throughout Switzerland and Germany.
She has been working as a freelance series development writer for Swiss television since 2017. 2020 Production and direction of the cinema documentary about the youth psychiatry station Basel “find a way to breathe”.
She is currently writing her first novel, for which she received the Literature Grant of Basel 2019.
