Simone (Soleil) Späni is an Executive Committee member of SWAN.
She studied Film Science, German Linguistics and Literature and History of Art at the University of Zurich (without a diploma). She is a member of the selection committee for Berlinale Shorts and was a long-time programmer for Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur.
She worked in different fields of culture and apart from being a programmer, she also works as a consultant for festivals and their workshop programs (film, theater and music), mainly in Switzerland (Zurich and Geneva), Berlin and Kigali (Rwanda).
Simone recently founded her own boutique indie film production company Cocoon Productions in Zurich, which produces short films, feature films (documentaries and fiction) and video installations. Cocoon is a partner of the Pan-African incubation program Realness – A Screenwriters Residency in South Africa (conducted by Urucu Media). The production company has a strong focus on a diverse film scene, nationally and internationally.
