FemaleAct

Associazione svizzera per le attrici

FemaleAct is an association run by Swiss actresses that promotes equality and diversity in film and on stage. It promotes networking and solidarity among performers, raises awareness in the industry and develops tools to accelerate systemic change in theatre and film. It also maintains a lively exchange with academics in order to work towards obtaining more well-founded figures on equality diversity in the Swiss cultural landscape through studies.

FemaleAct is represented at SWAN by actress and co-founder of FemaleAct Beren Tuna.

Beren Tuna grew up in Turkey and Germany. She completed her acting training at the HMT (now ZHdK) in 2006. Since then she has performed at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, Theater Basel, Neuköllner Oper Berlin, HAU Berlin, Konzert Theater Bern, among others. In 2009 she founded the production platform 1visible with Mirjam Neidhart, with whom she regularly realises productions. In 2016, Beren Tuna was awarded the Swiss Film Prize for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role in the feature film “Köpek” (directed by Esen Işık), and in 2020 she was nominated again for her role in “Al-Shafaq”. Most recently, she appeared in the winter of 20/21 at the Fabriktheater (Theater der Klient*innen, Corsin Gaudenz), in the Gess-nerallee (Protokolle Tilo Frey: colonial walk, P. Vijayashanthan) and in the feature film “Beyto” (Gitta Gsell). In 2018 as part of Inkuba-tor at the Rote Fabrik and in 2019 in co-production with sogar the-ater she realised her first directorial works. She is co-founder and on the board of the association FemaleAct, with which she is committed to equality and diversity in film and theatre.
